Please help! This is a brand-new SSD and I'll have to return it if I can't figure out how to get it working on my system, but my old HHD is dying and the system runs slow on it. I also heard I should disable secure boot but I can't access that menu, there doesn't seem to be a key to access any "UEFI setup screen" so IDK what to do about that. I tried booting in AHCI and IDE but nothing changed. Regardless of what other drives are connected, if I have the SSD connected I can't access the BIOS settings. I also get this message when I use the CD/DVD drive's SATA and power cables to connect the SSD while leaving the HDD connected in its original place (so both HDD and SSD are connected), and it only shows my HDD. I tried removing the CD/DVD drive and I still got the same message. I just get "3rd Master Hard Disk Error" (it shows a list of drives and only shows the CD/DVD drive, not the SSD). I then removed the HDD and installed an SSD in it's place (same power and SATA cables) and installed Linux Mint on it but it won't boot. I installed Linux Mint 20.2 Cinnamon on my internal HDD and it worked just fine.

Also I've never upgraded PC hardware before.

If I boot using the Linux Mint installation DVD, Linux recognizes the SSD and the files from the installation are there, though there could be files missing because I'm totally new to Linux.

BIOS doesn't recognize the disk, and won't boot from it, and I get "3rd Master Hard Disk Error" on boot screen. I replaced the HDD in a HP Pavilion Elite HPE-235f Desktop PC with an SSD ( SK hynix Gold S31 SATA Gen3 2.5 inch Internal SSD, 500GB SATA) and installed Linux Mint 20.2 Cinnamon.
